Launched in 1979, the Finnish Defence Forces Sports School provides motivated and talented athletes with an opportunity to train systematically alongside their military training.

The goal is to help the athlete grow and develop comprehensively and facilitate their advance to the international top of their sport. The Sports School is a part of the Finnish training system for top-level athletes. The day-to-day training is done in collaboration with Metropolitan Sports Academy Urhea and for the conscripts serving in the Kainuu Brigade in the Vuokatti-Ruka Sports Academy. The Sports School also cooperates with the Olympic Committee, sport federations, sports clubs, and personal trainers to find the best individual solutions.
